We build applications
that help
people.

Software for the moments that actually matter — a firefighter who needs to be accounted for, a family caring for an aging parent, a driver about to swipe a card at a compromised pump.

Our products & portfolio

Three problems.
Three applications.

Safe Signals builds applications for people carrying something heavy — a fire department's accountability, a parent's care, a customer's money. Different domains, one standard: it has to work on the worst day, not the demo day.

Muster
Fireground personnel accountability for fire departments

Muster helps incident commanders track every firefighter on the fireground in real time — PAR checks, assignments, Mayday declarations, evacuation orders, rehab, and exposure documentation. Offline-first, peer-to-peer mesh sync. Built for the volunteer chief at 2 AM in the rain.

  • Offline-first peer-to-peer mesh — works without internet
  • Full NFPA 1550 (2024) compliance claim
  • PAR, Mayday, evacuation, Safety Officer workflow
  • Rehab tracking, exposure records, after-action reports
  • iOS, Android, Windows, Mac & Linux · Starting $499/yr
On sale end of August 2026
CareHub
Caregiving coordination for families supporting aging parents

One calm place for everything your parents' care asks of you. CareHub keeps the documents, appointments, prescriptions, contacts, and running to-do list in one shared space — so the family member three states away knows exactly as much as the one who drove to the appointment.

  • Scan and search documents — wills, insurance, statements
  • Shared calendar for appointments and prescription refills
  • One address book for doctors, pharmacists, and providers
  • Shared checklists so the load doesn't fall on one person
  • One plan covers the whole family · up to 5 members

  • Real-time skimmer detection via Bluetooth scanning
  • Community safety map — check any location before you go
  • CarPlay & Android Auto — warns drivers before they park
  • For Business: 24/7 automated terminal monitoring, from $85/mo
  • PCI DSS 9.5 & 10 inspection logs and staff training
  • Free for everyone · iOS & Android

Our mission

The people who need software
most are served worst.

Volunteer fire departments, families caring for a parent, people trying to avoid getting their card cloned — none of them are lucrative enough to build for properly. So the tools they get are enterprise software with the price cut, or a hobby project that stops being maintained.

Every product we build starts with the same question: who is carrying something heavy without the information they need to carry it well? The answers so far are the fireground, the family caregiver, and the gas pump. There are more.

Useful without complexity

Nothing we build should need an IT department to deploy or a training course to understand. Every product is designed for the person who actually needs it, not for the person who approves the budget.

It works on the worst day

Software for hard moments has to hold up in them. No internet on the fireground. A hospital call at 6 AM when nobody can find the insurance card. We build for the bad day, because the bad day is the whole point.

The critical parts are never paywalled

The person who can't afford a premium tier still deserves to be warned about a skimmer, and the firefighter on a $499/yr department subscription still deserves a working Mayday button. Tiers can gate convenience. They don't gate safety.

Built for the field, not the boardroom

We design for the volunteer chief running a call at 2 AM, the daughter managing her father's care from three states away, and the driver who just wants to know if it's safe to swipe. Not for enterprise IT departments.

About Safe Signals

Built by someone who
lived the problem.

Safe Signals LLC started with a problem its founder watched up close: payment terminals being skimmed faster than anyone could inspect them. That became SkimGuard, which still ships today. What stayed was the pattern: find people carrying something hard, and build them the tool nobody bothered to build.

We're an independent, bootstrapped company. No venture capital, no outside investors, no acquisition roadmap. Just a focused mission to build genuinely useful applications and get them to the people who need them.

Common questions

Straight answers.

What Safe Signals makes, what it costs, and when you can get it.

What does Safe Signals do?

Safe Signals LLC is an independent, bootstrapped software company that builds applications for people carrying something difficult without the tools they need. We make three products: Muster for fire department personnel accountability, CareHub for families coordinating an aging parent's care, and SkimGuard for detecting credit card skimmers.

What is Muster, and when is it available?

Muster is a fireground personnel accountability system for fire departments — PAR checks, Mayday declarations, evacuation orders, rehab cycles, and exposure records over an offline-first peer-to-peer mesh that works with no internet. It is NFPA 1550 (2024) compliant. Muster goes on sale at the end of August 2026, starting at $499 per department per year. See muster.safesignals.io.

What is CareHub, and when is it available?

CareHub is a caregiving coordination app for families supporting aging parents. It keeps documents, appointments, prescription refills, care contacts, and shared checklists in one place the whole family can see. CareHub goes on sale at the end of August 2026, and one plan covers the whole family, up to five members. See care-hub.app.

Is SkimGuard free?

Yes — free for consumers on iOS and Android, and always will be. We do not paywall the ability to scan for a skimmer. Businesses that operate payment terminals can subscribe to SkimGuard for Business for monitoring and compliance documentation.

What is SkimGuard for Business?

It protects every payment terminal you operate — fuel islands, retail lanes, ATMs, bars and restaurants, event venues. A handheld tier for staff scanning starts at $85 per location per month; an automated tier with 24/7 scanning starts at $250. Both include a verified badge on the public safety map, PCI DSS 9.5 and 10 inspection logs, role-based team access, and staff security training in 22 languages. Per location, no setup fees, no contracts. See SkimGuard for Business.

Is Safe Signals venture backed?

No. Safe Signals is independent and bootstrapped — no venture capital, no outside investors, no acquisition roadmap. That is why we can promise that the features that matter most are never gated behind a subscription tier.

Who founded Safe Signals?

Joe Gilkey, who spent more than five years as Head of IT at King Kullen Grocery Co., Inc., responsible for payment terminal infrastructure across retail locations. He is the inventor of SkimGuard's patent-pending signal classification technology. Read the full story.
